YOU SING, YOU DANCE AND YOU STEAL THINGS.
i have finally got my hands on what i've been waiting for since months ago. the wait has been SO worth it. now i soak myself in every moment.
IT HAS SET ME BACK ABOUT 10 LOAVES OF GARDENIA BREAD OR AROUND 6 PLATES OF HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE. such is the evil of purchasing albums. ;)
i guess i am pretty lucky that i have informants everywhere. or something i would like to call - very good FRIENDS. =) someone very trustworthy and FREE checked out the nearest music store to my home and said that they had the EP.
like AWESOOOOOOMMMMMMMMES.
went there on thursday and strolled to THAT CD SHOP. [serious - thats the name of it. =p ]GIVEN A CHANCE, i would have gone to GRAMAPHONE, cause i really think they can be trusted. i've had a good buy from there, experienced great service and LOVE THEIR TAGLINE. thank god i restrained the impulse of running out the shop with JASON MRAZ in my hands. i think i might have waved it around my head, yelling - every bit like a champion with his 'I AM FIRST' trophy.
persevere. =O
went upstairs to MUSIC JUNCTION. didnt rlly have much faith in them. they have pretty pricey albums there. but LO AND BEHOLD, they had his album there at 4 BUCK LESSER.
LOVE YOU GUYS. period. [YES-AH!]
[skips uninteresting details of excitement and ECSTASY.]________________________________________
album review: WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS.
mraz's definition of the album title is that the songs in this album are meant for us to sing along. with great music comes the FEEL to dance and jive. in addition, he also explains how we ALL STEAL THINGS. in the sense that all the ideas we have are from someone else or some other place. meaning these things WE talk about are not our original ideas. so we recycle; THEREFORE WE STEAL.
i say this album is pretty awesome and JM never fails to impress me. in fact, i think this is his best album to date. dont let the cover fool you - beneath its simple exterior is a very BEAUTIFUL STORY. =P [pardon the use of LOUSY words.]
if i were to use an analogy, listening to him sing is like having a GIANT CHOCOLATE BROWNIE CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE FUDGE ICE CREAM FROM BEN AND JERRY'S. it's that delicious.
rich, sinful - YET TERRIBLY SATISFYING AND GRATIFYING.
this album is a huge change from his previous EP, which featured much guitars. this one has a variety of sounds - hiphop beats, big brass bands, a choir and other WIERD SOUNDS. ;) i love that he is daring with experimentation and that IT WORKS OUT SO WELL!!!
i've previewed a few songs from his album before they were even out. so - i guess they count as songs worth mentioning. 'They Dynamo of Volition' is intriguing. he sings at his famous F1 RACECAR speed and the lyrics are - how do i put it in words? it is almost similar to storytelling, with much CHIMINOLOGY.
'Live High' is one of my favourites [ ;) YOU KNOW WHY] and he sings about the positivity in life. not forgetting 'I'm Yours', the hit single off his new album.
he is equally brillant on his collaborations with Colbie Cailat and James Morrison. when it comes to ballads, he works his magic. for example, 'Love For A Child' explains his parents' relationship and the divorce he witnessed. it's so heart-felt. i think he really expressed himself well on that one.
then he can be like a chameleon. on the song 'BUTTERFLY', a lady commented that it was the perfect 'F___ me' song.
I CANNOT AGREE MORE. =P
but i try to be unbiased. i do prefer the acoustic versions of his songs. he always sounds so natural AND MUCH BETTER LIVE. i wish he would return to s'pore and give an intimate showcase. =/ ________________________________________
the sports season for JCs have somewhat ended. it has been a slightly disappointing year for SA, but NO FRET. we still have next year and HOPEFULLY, we will get to bring something shiny and goldenBACK TO SCHOOL.
until then, this week has been rather splendid. i passed my bio lecture 2 test [BARELY], i got my hands on JM's album, i got to watch double hockey finals [and MISS MORE LESSONS, in succession], did a good deed by donating to the SICHUAN and MYANMAR charities [LET'S PRAY FOR THEM], i ate an ORANGE ICE LOLLY, had a GREAT mentoring session, met HAMSTERRRR AND GIANT and jia hui [on the MRT home], GOT TO KNOW THE GOOD NEWS THAT DAVID COOK WON AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 7 [which is SO RIGHT!!!], and had an incredible week - in short.
cant wait for next week; i guess. =P
BE POSITIVE AND OPTIMISTIC. THERE IS ALWAYS BRIGHT LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.

yowch.
the oppurtunity costs of 100 bucks ARE aplenty.
for example - the GSS, JM's EP, countless of tutorials on the way, movie tix; FOOD? i think i shall look on the bright side and deviate myself from the pain and HURT. =O
LALALA homework homework holiday homework.
bio - 2 genetics of viruses tutorials + 2 mindaps on bacteriophages chem - energetics 2 tutorial math - tutorial 7 on graphs econs - read 'why markets fail' and 'kyoto protocol' gp - TOO MANY TO MENTION. >.< pw - survey qns and BETTER info-search plan mt - chinese idioms test
12/5: rugby finals was something we were all looking forward to. after all, 08s14 took much pain before we finally got the chance to watch the match. i dare SAY, it is even more eventful than anything i have ever been to. partly cause gan eng seng has never cultivated such kind of 'ZOMG LETS WATCH THIS SPORT' kind of feeling - EVER. nor do we really have a sense of school spirit.
i really wonder what i was doing in gess all the while. i dont think i have learnt much there; perhaps i only can treasure the friendship there really. otherwise, i think everything boils down to zero.
life would have been better if all the GREAT teachers did not leave [well, they left for a GOOD reason] and if mr mui became head coach. OLE. [-.-"] now gan eng seng has turned into a gangster feeder sch or smth. =/ YIKES.
not that all of them are gangsters and making such assumptions based on nothing is WRONG. but i know. i know WELL. doesnt matter if you agree with me or not.
anyways, the pitch fever was a high this afternoon. we left school early [missed econs and bio tutorial YEAH] and headed for padang. playing against ACS[i] and THIS IS SUPER THRILLING. >.<.
so we got on the bus and got free clappers too. one of those inflatable plastic sticks or UMBRELLA HOLDERS IN WHICH YOU BLOW INTO THEM BY MOUTH GASSING. HAHA - thats what the instructions said anyways. finally got down to padang and i saw THE ICE CREAM MEN.
wah - you cannot see the happiness written on my face. OR MAYBE YOU COULD HAVE. but i didnt get my fix of I SCREAM til later. was UBER EXCITED and raring to cheer. waited quite long in the hot, torturous, unforgiving sweltering heat. and the grass makes my legs itch so i didnt want to sit down again.
FIANLLY THE RUGBY GUYS APPEARED.
we were like cheering for them constantly. and by that, i meant SERIOUSLY - CONSTANTLY. even though we were losing to the bumblebees [see - outfits] most of the time, we still cheered. everytime the SA ruggers got the ball, we yelled.
and boy, were they rough.
i have never seen white shirts get dirty so quickly. it would have been the perfect place for DYNAMO, VANISH and UIC to make ads. but the ruggers rlly played hard and fought hard. i think they really had a commendable spirit.
UP AND ON, SAINTS!!! =D
here are some links regarding SAJC ruggers [latest]:
i dont rlly like the fact that they copied the new zealand ALL BLACKS haka. it's just so unoriginal. maybe im saying this cause THEY WON. =P but anyways, i like the SAINTS battle cry better - they look much better without sticking out their tongues. =O
i like chapel time. it rlly stimulates my mind and my calling towards GOD. ;)
-"when two or three are gathered in my name, i will be there."

it gets lonely.
i like this guy and i like his voice. ;) checkout matthew luke sandoval.
and i have been listening to marie digby [think she came to singapore for a gig] and her various renditions of 'gimme more', 'umbrella' and 'what i've done'. acoustic versions no doubt. this lady is half-irish and half-japanese which only reaffirms the truth about how MOST mixed-blood kids are PRETTY/HANDSOME.
say it again - marie digby.
been spamming sara bareilles and james morrison. waiting for jason mraz to arrive to my doorstep.
ONLY KIDDING. =P if i had the cash, i wld pre-order the album alr. =/ AH, the feeling of being poor is never a comfortable one.
ttyl. =)

on the brighter side and on the side with synthetic green grass, life is okay. HAH - who am i kidding rlly? i wish i was rich. then life wouldnt be limited to books and fried brain cells and sleepless nights. we pursue all this for a reason right?
i wonder if im rlly pursuing what i want.
constantly asking myself questions to ponder about the real meaning of life. life - box of chocolates, vertigo-causing rollercoasters, bed of roses and cauliflowers. WHATEVER.
you choose your own idea to expand on.

regarding my favourite thought/muse/love/hobby/passion - music.
I AM DYING TO WIN THOSE TICKETS TO THE TC5 CONCERT.
it's not that i cant afford it but unfortunately due to SOMEONE, i cant get them. [HINT HINT] i have half the heart to get the seating ones now, before they get sold out. if only dawn wasnt going to taiwan. =( she is dying to go too.
i like this picture - it has my fave three guys from TC5. =D AND IN THE CORRECT ORDER!!! and dont you think zehr looks a little like zac efron in this one?
he looks like the lead of TC5 in this one. ;) KP CAN DISAPPEAR FOR GOOD. =P
going there mainly means to tell JOEY ZEHR that - ER, I LOVE HIM? =D not that there is anythng worth saying rlly. his birthday is coming - say 10th may, which is a saturday, here in sunny diamond island. i think if i get to meet TC5 again, i'll get a black shirt and write -
'ZEHR IS THE MAN' in bright orange/green marker with big fonts of trebuchet ms. ;)
and then i will write, with a small white felt-tip pen >>> 'KP, WHAT A DUMMY.'
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. =D
not that i have anythng against him rlly. after all i have a friend who says that he is the first angmoh guy she has ever liked. reason valid. although i have been watching the TC5 showcase vids and i look at KP and go-
WHAT A NUTTER. KID DEFINITELY GOT HIGH ON KETAMINE OR SMTH. =P
just kidding lah.

exasperation desperation.
i dunno what is worse - me almost falling asleep as my heavy eyelids are batting at rather slow speeds or that everytime i click submit i get the same answer:
you have entered the wrong code, pls try AGAIN. >=(
if i were a hacker, i definitely would destroy many computers. just keep seeing that msg over and over again; repeatedly. as though it cant stop emphasizing that 'cause IT is in control, IT can do whatever IT wants.
im sure you dunno what im ranting abt so let me give you a brief explanation:
as my pocket has a growing hole [or a black hole, whichever you prefer], i have been trying many/various/a spectrum/plethora of methods to get the TC5 concert tix for free. as well as a meet-and-greet pass. =) you can say im rlly cheapskate or that my love for JOEY ZEHR has never waned. but that's not the point.
although - I DO LOVE MR ZEHR. ;)
[saw some nice MR ZEHR pics but cant put them on smehow. DARN.]
i think MTV has something wrong with its server - it's against me for some unknown reason. and it is not just me with this recurring problem. i think others face it too. its either they know me too well and DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THE TICKETS TO ME [yah like how would i know until 27th may]. i must say, this is pissing me off to the extent that i feel like whacking the screen but no one feels the pain so - WHY THOUGH?
ah - neverminds. there are worse things than this.
_______________________________________
not a day goes by that i do not think of my granddad. i wonder how he is doing up there in heaven and whether is it much better than life on earth. im pretty sure it is - no homework, no stress, no illnesses, no problems. sounds like the perfect paradise. =) unfortunately, however much i dread to drag my unwilling soul to school each and everyday, i still have to.
NO CHOICE WHAT. (o.0)
but with renewed faith in god, i feel like im much mre optimistic than before and also a little more perservering and determined. ah, this sounds vaguely familiar - somewhat similar to my PW story. =P hopefully i will get through my year in jc alive and most importantly -
PASS PROMOS!!!!! =0 like isnt this the most important/critical/vital thng in my life?
