knock knock.
hello - i am back into activity again.
it's been a while since i'm online/blogging. mostly cause i've been busy mugging for my chem and bio tests and finishing my GP hmwk as well. and what with the late nights and unhealthy sleeping habits; it's a sad life but i chose this route and i'm gonna stick to it.
anyways, on to mre INTERESTING and UPBEAT thngs>>>
1) music gets the best of ME
big news first - frm a VERY EXTREMELY RELIABLE source/[s], i learnt that the 5 shaggy haired guys are coming back to SUNNY LITTLE ISLAND again. yes - it's THE CLICK FIVE. LIVE IN SINGAPORE AT SIS ON THE 1ST OF JUNE.
[GAH - JOEY JOEY JOEY!!!!! =D ]
the gd thng is that it's a holiday. =) the bad thng is that i think I AM BROKE. =( the neutral thng is that - IM NOT EVEN SURE WHETHER I WANT TO GO. =/
but it's funny how what i say tend to come true somehow.
im guessing that those 5 RLLY do like singapore. [or the girls AT LEAST.] and that kyle patrick is NOT liar. =P
i got 2 friends who are potential TC5 concert-goers. so that's sme food for thought and much to think abt anyways. although i doubt the tickets are on sale yet. perhaps arnd early/mid april. i'm guessing the tickets are going to be snapped up PRETTY QUICK. all the JENNY's in s'pore are sure to be the major buyers. [HAHA - NOT.]
okayy, now i'm going to test the theory again.
me CHANTS: JASON MRAZ. JASON MRAZ. JASON MRAZ. JASON MRAZ. JASON MRAZ. or JASON MRAZ TO INFINITY AND BEYOND. =P
2nd big news and most important thing and the highlight of 2008 -MAROON 5 IN LESS THAN 5 DAYS!!!!! [oh how i LOVE the number 5!!!] =D =D =D
i am more than excited. i am elated. ECSTATIC. HYPERVENTILATING. LIVING HIGH. =D
hmms, i seem to be running out of appropriate adjectives to use.
but that's besides the point. i'm going to be mugging this weekend to make sure that i can keep up with the sch curriculum. trying to make up for the time lost on TUESDAY 25TH MARCH 2008. [!!!!!] it's going to be SEVERELY hectic this coming tues. i'm not even sure if i will have a pile of hmwk waiting for me after tuesday's sch. and not sure whether i'll be home early enough to catch sme much needed sleep. =/
but all for the sake of ADAM's vocals. SIGH. X)
on a lighter tone - i DO HOPE THAT M5 IS AT TOP FORM ON TUESDAY. it's been such a long wait since whenever they came out. i'm hoping their song repertoire consists of both the 1st and 2nd album.
I WANT THEM TO SING 'SHIVER'!!!!! =D
as well as their bonus tracks.for the 2nd album though, i hope they sing all songs EXCEPT FOR track 10. anything but that song RLLY.
i hope they start with 'MAKES ME WONDER'. then end with a bang [THROW IN SOME EXTRA FIREWORKS] and sing 'THIS LOVE'.
just learned that one of my PAE friend's bro went to watch Sondre Lerche live. and he said that he was GOOD.
bring on the disappointment MANNNNN. =(
and i got one classmate who likes JASON MRAZ!!!!! this is the best and most wonderful-est news EVER. and she likes indie music so i can discover even more bands/singers.
FANTASTICABULOUS. =D
current music status >>> ever active in DL-ng and repetitive plays of MAROON 5 in prep of their ACTION live in this CITY.
2) life is "wonderful". with the inclusion of big inverted commas.
in terms of studying, im getting the hang of JC life already. it's rather tough but all you need is these few criterias:
CONSTANT REVISON + CONSTANT VIGILANCE = CONSTANT GOOD GRADES.
or that's how i think it works. but almost all teachers/tutors in SA emphasize this point CONSTANTLY.
>>> get the pun back there?
so i see that hard work is going to get me far and that means MUG MUG MUG.
btw, just went for tuition on sat for maths. for my sake and my future - which is INDEED A VERY GD INVESTMENT. although i think im sacrificing much social time, but HEY -i believe that all this will pay off.
THIS SOUNDS SO NERDY. =P
3) popcorn and nachos and a SUPERDOG.
i've watched 'STEP UP 2 THE STREETS' with ham and jyi [kacheng]. 2 days later, i caught a free 'HORTON HEARS A WHO'.
almost had to catch STEP UP twice which is SUCH A BORE rlly. i actually dislike watching movies twice in the theatre. i like the experience to be kept to a minimum for each movie, TYVM.
it was all thanks to my dear brother who wanted to watch it. so my mum and i went to suntec [cause the free tix i have are available at ENG WAH and that's the nearest for us.] booked the 7.30 show but -bro was still at jurong pt after his 'snow city' outing at 7 plus [HAHA SO FUNNY - yah right] and my mum and i just got halfway through FISH AND CO.
YIKES. =/
in the end, my mum changed the tix to HORTON and i got my wish. =D and my brother deserved what he got. =P and my mum enjoyed 'HORTON' and im sure that she will prefer it to 'STEP UP' anytime.
so >>> about STEP UP 2.
it was relatively okayy i guess. i dont like the lead actress cause i dont think she is rlly THAT GD a dancer. MOOSE is good and you gotta watch to know what i mean. most of their dance choreography is quite AWESOME though.
or SO I THINK IT IS.
storyline is pretty simple: girl likes dancing. girl has to move to another country OR get into the local prestigious dance sch. girl has a troubled background. girl meets boy who likes dancing. and FF the minor useless boring details, girl dances her way out of her troubles. girl and boy kiss. THE END. [this gets 2 and a half stars.]
and for 'HORTON', i thought it was good.
maybe not 'MADAGASCAR'-gd nor in comparison with 'OVER THE HEDGE' but it's pretty funny and watchable. i have always liked dr seuss though. and JIM CARREY IS THE STAR OF THIS SHOW. =D
storyline in 3 words: READ THE BOOK. thought that might sum it up for you. =P
it's going to be a 3 and 3/4 stars thng mainly cause jim carrey is in it and i've loved him in ACE VENTURA, THE MASK and BRUCE ALMIGHTY. steve carell isn't half-bad either, but he kinds of loses his magic when voicing the character. it just isn't like him in THE OFFICE nor EVAN ALMIGHTY. and definitely not him in DAN IN REAL LIFE.
i still want to watch DAN IN REAL LIFE anyways. i've always loved cartoons and i love a good comedy as well so i DEF recommend this. =) ________________________________________
moving on to what i havent caught and WANT TO WATCH.
BE KIND REWIND which opens today has jack black in it. i think the guy's a genius. =D
the story is abt ths guy named jerry and how his electrocuted/magnetised brain wipes out all the images of the movies in the movie rental store he works in with a gd friend. the owner wants to make sure that his shop is still in gd shape and he decides to rent a movie to watch. the guys panic, before deciding to make their OWN VERSIONS of the movie.
[FF]: the movie is a hit, ppl swarm to the store for MORE of their homemade vids and, I SAY, laughter ensues.
apparently they redo GHOSTBUSTERS, ROBOCOP and KING KONG. and i saw jack black and the robocop costume so i'm saying - CATCH THIS ONE. =D
the next one is the 2nd instalment of narnia, prince caspian. im thinking it looks pretty interesting and i like fantasy movies. BUT ONLY TO A CERTAIN EXTENT.
my friend, however, wants to catch RULE #1 for all the obvious reasons. but i'm not going to watch it. i need sleep and the last thng im going to do is kp myself awake due to dirty thngs lurking arnd. i say, they are called 'hantus' in malay right?
YOU GET MY POINT. ________________________________________
think VANTAGE POINT seems okay but usually, for such political-thrillers, i prefer to catch them in the comfort of my home. WHERE I CAN ALWAYS SWITCH OF THE TELLY IF IT SUCKS. and SEMI PRO seems like a basketball version of SCARY MOVIE. i guess will ferell is the only saving grace. but wont be catching those 2. ________________________________________
im going, though i just realised that sch ends at 5 for me on that day. will see how i can fit all this thngs in my PACKED schedule.
aite. update you guys later. time for mugging and concert planning and relaxing. and most importantly - SLEEPING. [-.-]

FRANCE.
riding at 50 miles per hour during a Paris summer a chocolate daschund in my arms the sun hangs HIGH up (it's a cloudless day) we're at the back of a truck
hitching a ride to the Louvre
its ears are flapping in the breeze our radio runs on batteries laughter fills the atmosphere as we listen to Mraz and Mayer far from the concrete jungle
we sip a glass of lemonade; "CHEERS!" we said
the evening breeze tickle our toes we wrinkle our noses (the air has changed, you see) as the orange dot goes lower so do our sunhats
au revoir, monsieurs! (tres merci.) we alight at the Eiffel in awe of its magnificence -
just in time to see the glass pyramid set against the nightline its reflection is shiny but we have to hurry - DOWN
[we are late for the show]
but there she sits, waiting patiently she smiles, beguilingly or mysteriously I DO NOT KNOW BUT, she knows our little secret
and so, I return it to her with a mischevious wink
yes indeed! the Louvre is in Lisa's hands.

2 WEEEKS.
just a random thought of the day and had to get it down in words before i forget the idea that just occurred out of nowhere. i just realised that i've been through many music phases in my [rather short] lifetime. hmms, let's see and start in a chronological order for easy reference.
1. early ages [age 5 onwards til early primary sch yrs]:
i used to listen to Class 95 fm [best mix of music YEAH] and rlly got to hear alot of perennial hits or what i would call, my dad's time kind of music. then there was my dad's stash of cds. there was THE CARPENTERS, BEE GEES, MICHAEL JACKSON [he was still alright until he got himself bleached HAHA], SIMON AND GARFUNKEL, THE BEATLES, etc.
he played them so often that until now i still can remember what song comes next. =P
there was also chinese music and my favourite artist then was zhou hua jian or WAKIN CHAU. i thought his music was good and i love it when he sang acoustic. it was just him strumming the guitar and singing those songs with such meaningful lyrics. [AH, GOOD OLE DAYS.]
oh yah, my dad even has a MADONNA cd. but i dont like her and he never played it before. =P
i do LOVE the oldies; i love the simplicity of their lyrics and it's just rlly interesting how these are still classics, after so many years. the tunes are NOT BAD TOO. =)
2. primary 3-5:
it was ALL ABOUT POP MUSIC AND BOYBANDS. say >>> britney spears, christina aguilera [in her early teenybopper days]; BOYBANDS like westlife [their my fave HAHA], backstreet boys, a1, n'sync, ERR - cant rmb who else. i even listened to [the all-famous, well at least to ME] AQUA, cause one of my cousins had the cd. such great times to reminiscence about.
i'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world. HAHAHA. X)
i would say it's such a mistake rlly, but back then, it was all the rage. HAH. [-.-"]
then there was m2m, the girl duo with high-pitched voices and WERE NORWEGIANS [ah like SONDRE LERCHE but less talent though HAHAHA] whom i liked [BACK THEN] and that was the first album i got. i still have it but now i think the songs are QUITE irritating. accept for their hit single - DON'T SAY YOU LOVE ME.
hey, you ppl out there of MY time, you still remember them? =P
3. P5, P6 to lower sec years:
chinese music. that and i listened to YES 93.3 always. they had a segment on the radio where they told stories and played music after that. so it made the listeners a little more imaginative. they created these scenarios in their heads and they had the music to set the mood. (o.0) the first song i remember hearing [vividly] was FIR's 'fly away'. then it just sparked my love for chinese pop. there was the emergence of s'porean musicians as well, so it got me going. and that's why i went to k-box with yi xuan and wan fen >>> to sing along to these songs. [*shakes head and laughs*]
but towards the end of lower secondary, i felt that a change was coming along. something that will really define me. which leads toooOOOOOOOOO
[editor's note: the first english song that had an impression on me, after my few years of not listening to english radio, was introduced by jia yi. it was called 'THIS LOVE' and the band is STILL MY FAVE. =D =D =D ]
>>> HEHEHE YOU KNOW WHO. ;)
4. sec 3 and 4 and BEYONDDD
you could say this was a start of something new. [EH, PUN NOT INTENDED] i was listening to MORE OF POWER 98 AND PERFECT TEN 98.7 FM. it was just all about english music. i guess i was returning to my roots. but there were 2 parts to this musical phase. the gradual change came because i've always preferred english radio than chinese. there was more banter, call-ins were ALWAYS FUN and they had great jokes. [or LAME ONES.]
and i'm a true blue ang-moh kia. =P not saying that i will abandon my chinese heritage though.
i) pop music, R&B, then ROCK BANDS.
at the start, i didn't have any favourite genre. i was more like a - 'ANYTHING ALSO CAN' OR 'CHIN CHAI' listener. i listened to mainstream. it was like simple plan and avril lavigne most of the time and the occasional damien rice and john mayer. smetimes it was linkin park and matchbox twenty too. IT WASN'T SOON BEFORE LONG [i like this pun ALOT] that i got hooked onto rock music. and EMO [LOLLS] music. i remember watching a music vid and it was MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE'S HELENA on yahoomusic. that was WAYYY BEFORE the song even came out on radio airwaves.
my first impression? wierd but VERY interesting. [okayy, all MCR fans, pls don't STONE me cause i do like Gerard Way HEHEHE. =P ]
and then i got intro-ed to more emo and rock music thanks to a certain GOH JIA YI [HAHAHA] and a very rare species of rodent, also known as hamster. so the more they talked about it, the more i listened. the more i listened, the more i learned. and the more i learned, the more i -
ERR. okayy. im suffering from MAJOR WORD SHORTAGE AT THE MOMENT. =/
ii) then it was year 4 of secondary school, the final year. amidst studying like a mad-hatter and mugging all day, i found time to listen to music. it's like medicine to the soul and a form of relaxation. by and by, i listened to enough 'MUTTONS AT MIDNIGHT', 'SAY IT WITH SOO' AND 'THE SHAN AND ROS SHOW' to know what kind of prizes they were giving away and which show was best to dedicate a song to your friends. and i tried to win some of the prizes cause i had some luck when i won KEANE'S 'UNDER THE IRON SEA' album on POWER 98.
then i won the tickets to TC5 SHOWCASE and BOY, WAS I ELATED!!! =D
now i'm bent on winning things and dedicating songs on SOO'S SHOW only because she was the one who [usually] reads out my dedications and she's the one who called me to tell me about the GOOD NEWS. and oh, BTW, SHE LIKES JASON MRAZ TOO.
all the better for me. =D
recently, i'm more of a indie/folk/jazz/acoustic/soft-rock music listener. my current favourite singers are sondre lerche and JASON MRAZ and nerina pallot. but my fave band still remains the same. i always thought that they might disappear after their first album but their first album was REALLY GOOOOD. so i'm glad they returned and although their sound has changed immensely, they still sound AWESOME.
yes - MARCH is the MONTH of MAROON 5. =D

my life is actually reflected by my changing taste in music. with every new friend i make, i get introduced to new music. that was what happened in the past, when i was still GROWING UP. NOW, i'm more or less settled with rock music, as long as they are not MEGADETH OR METALLICA OR HELLOWEEN or those SUPER metal rock bands. i would say FOO FIGHTERS and LP are still acceptable.
cause too much screaming means high decibels and a deaf me. not my kind of music rlly. =/
k. getting sme sleep. TTYL. =)

cheng qiaokeli mianbao zhishi.
love the blue swirls and the giraffe. =) hate that it's non-navigational. =(
met jyn today to do sme mugging. ended up talking abt blognames and random stuff. almost changed my blogname to smth long and definitely eyecatching:
watched 'jumper' recently with 2 of my current classmates in jc. wasn't rlly good, i have to say. although the effects were superb and HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN [ah; he is quite gd looking, i presume] is inside, the storyline actually isn't very good. i actually doubt it's even worth the 3 stars Life! gave it.
you see - the story is [SIMPLY PUT] about a guy who can teleport. [you might think that X-Men/Heroes is better as there are more super SPUPERHEROES than this movie and you are PROBABLY RIGHT] the story starts when he is 15 and he narrates about his first 'jump'. [HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY CALLED IT 'JUMPER' WHEN HE DOESN'T EVEN JUMP AT ALL!!!] then it just FF to present life and what he can do with his ability. and one day, a NSA [think it stands for National Science Authority or SMTH] agent, played by Samuel L Jackson with his cool commanding voice [hahaha - am so glad he doesn't do anymore lousier movies like SNAKE ON A PLANE], comes to find him and wants to exterminate him.
why do i use the word 'exterminate'? cause the way he uses his tools to capture the JUMPER kid seems to suggest he is some sort of robot. [robot referring to the JUMPER kid.] =P
anyways, that is pretty much what the story is about; add in lots of CGI and throw in 2 sidekicks: 1 is a Brit who also has the ability to 'jump' and another is JUMPER kid's girlfriend
>>> VOILA! you have an action movie.
or so the director thought. =/
WHY IT'S LOUSY:
1. DUNNO WHO DIES AND WHO DOESN'T [ZOMG.]
not like there's gonna be a sequel, considering how the storyline is SO WEAK. what i meant is that the fate of some characters in the movie is unknown. ESPECIALLY the Brit, whom i thought was actually quite important, since he appeared in almost a third of the screentime and that he had MUCH dialogue with JUMPER kid. [reason why i keep calling him that is because i forgot what is his actual name. alternatively, i could use his onscreen nick which is 'RICE BOWL'. =P ]
FYI [and mini-spoiler], the Brit is left hanging and entangled amidst electric wires. [-.-"]
2. girlfriend is a painful distraction.
don't know why she is actually there - PERHAPS TO ADD TO THE SCREENTIME, I GUESS. it's abit boring sometimes when it's only him talking to her and some cheesy [+ corny] lines between them. it's not like i have anythng against rachel bilson but YAH.
3. which leads me to my 3rd pt - BAD MUSIC.
CMON, YOU PLAY THE FRAY'S "LOOK AFTER YOU" WHEN THEY ARE MAKING OUT? [ew yikes yucks it sucks] THAT IS SERIOUSLY WRONG CHOICE OF SONG, WRONG TIMING AND TOTALLY WRONG. IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.
4. story ends a little funnily [and is quite FUNNY, if you ask me.]
he starts off narrating and that goes on for about, maybe a quarter of the movie. then it's just dialogue ACTION dialogue MORE ACTION dialogue EFFECTS dialogue ACTION + EFFECTS and continue.
5. max thierot plays jUMPER kid when he was, WELL, a kid. thought that was pretty important but they ended up putting his name WAYY far behind hayden's name. i know there are a few big-wigs in this movie, but it makes no sense to put his name THAT FAR behind. after 5 mins, if i'm not wrong.
okayy, this is not rlly a gd pt.
>>> GOOD PT: occasional good jokes + nice scenery and tourist attractions [KUDOS FOR FEATURING THE COLOSSEUM IN ROME] + great performance by the Brit. =D
right. go watch it if you haven't, although the movie is ending soon. so a MUCH BETTER IDEA would be to catch smth controversial or smth with a better storyline. i think i'm just waiting for Narnia 2 to be out and perhaps to watch Step Up 2 as well.

in love, on sadness.
dear heavenly father,
i implore you at this hour of need. my dearest grandfather has just been hospitalised due to a sudden stroke. it is very unfortunate for such an illness to befall him especially since he is such an active person. he has been dealt a heavy blow for he lacks mobility and has trouble speaking to us as the stroke has affected his ability to speak. he is now almost incomprehensible. but there is some comfort as he is now under the care of dedicated warriors; the nurses and doctors at SGH. i hope that he will put in some effort to recover as fast as possible and i only can will it to be speedier. he has to under go physiotherapy but im sure he will be well soon. please, GOD, help him in this crucial period and be his guardian angel and give him the strength to persevere. he knows that his family is always behind him and supporting him throughout this trying ordeal. i pray all this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Stroke or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the rapidly developing loss of brain functions due to a disturbance in the blood vessels supplying blood to the brain. This can be due to ischemia (lack of blood supply) caused by thrombosis or embolism, or due to a hemorrhage. In medicine, a stroke, fit, or faint is sometimes referred to as an ictus [cerebri], from the Latin icere ("to strike"), especially prior to a definitive diagnosis.
Risk factors for stroke include advanced age, hypertension (high blood pressure), previous stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA), diabetes, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, atrial fibrillation, migraine with aura, and thrombophilia (a tendency to thrombosis). Blood pressure is the most important modifiable risk factor of stroke.
Treatment of stroke is occasionally with thrombolysis ("clot buster"), but usually with supportive care (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) and secondary prevention with antiplatelet drugs (aspirin and often dipyridamole), blood pressure control, statins and anticoagulation (in selected patients).

>>> DID YOU GET THE BIRDS?
the first thing that JASON MRAZ says is:
CAN YOU HEAR THAT VALERIE?
this never fails to make me go jelly-like always. can seem to stop swooning over him and obviously conciously smitten by his charm. i wonder if i'm really just dropping the insane edge or smth.
=D =D =D
if only he gets invited next year to the mosaic music fest and gets elected [or whatever way they make their decision] as artist in residence. CAN ALL THE JASON MRAZ FANS IN S'PORE PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AND DEMAND FOR HIS VISIT TO SUNNY LITTLE ISLAND IN THE MIDST OF SOUTHEAST ASIA? thank you very THE much. =)
only a week til sondre lerche performs at the 11th hour and 18 mre days to M5 live.
